Second to coffee is my love for books, and Waterstones captures both my loves perfectly. I often come to the cafe in Waterstones for the atmosphere and coffee. It is relaxed and you’ll often find people of all different backgrounds. Students, professionals and friends catching up for a gossip. Whenever someone asks me where to grab a coffee I always say Waterstones.

I had an Americano with a tea cake. The coffee is roasted for Waterstones and is a dark roast. I had it black and the initial texture is silky on the tongue, it has a nutty flavour to it without being over powering and because of this, isn’t harsh or ashy. It really is an easy drink. The tea cake came unburnt, warm and tasted so good on a cold afternoon. It was the perfect companion.

The price is also very reasonable and another reason I recommend it, an americano is £1.90 and tea cake is £1.70. The staff are always very polite, easy to talk to and never disruptive.
The only drawback for me is the connectivity whilst you’re here. The wi-fi is just okay, but does time out and you’re required to authenticate every time you come in (which if you visit as much as I do is annoying) and I’m on BT (which uses EE) and find the 3G/4G connectivity lacking to almost be non-existent. Small price to pay though.
